texas-chainsaw-massacre

To begin with, this cult classic is revolutionary for the slasher horror because it brought much more gore to the kills and made it look unbelievably real. The other thing you need to realize is that this movie is not a real story, it was just inspired by the story of the infamous serial killer Ed Gein, who used to rob graves to make furniture out of dead bodies. The story follows a group of friends who go on a road trip, but unfortunately run into Leatherface and his deranged family. Leatherface is the main killer who has a recognizable look with his big chainsaw and leather mask that is made out of human skin, from where his name comes. The thing about Leatherface is that he is not a mastermind killer, he is just a big killing machine that will do anything his father tells him to. Acting is on the expected level for such low budget 70s movie, so don’t expect any Oscar-worthy performances. Even though the acting is not as good, some scenes will make a strong impression. The first scene I would like to mention is the ending dinner scene. This scene became iconic because of how long it is. It lasts for about 15 minutes but feels like a lot longer because it makes you uncomfortable and disturbed. The other scene I would like to talk about is the very last moment of the movie. In it, we see Leatherface just swinging his chainsaw like a lunatic, and the movie suddenly ends, leaving the audience in shock and feeling of true terror. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes horror and maybe bring a friend or two because you will have a good time watching this.
Fun fact: The movie is called The Texas chainsaw massacre, but there is only one kill in the movie with the chainsaw.
